Pico Talk – Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 15 June, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pico Talk (“Service”), operated by PICO SOFT LIMITED (“Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal data when you use our mobile application and related voice calling, messaging, and contact management services.
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
1. Data Controller & Contact Details
Data Controller: PICO SOFT LIMITED
Privacy Email: info@picosoftltd.com
2. Scope & Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to users of Pico Talk on Android and related services, including free and registered users.
3. Categories of Personal Data We May Collect
A. Account Information
- Your phone number, which is required to register and sign in. Sign-in to Pico Talk is based on your phone number, and we use it solely for authentication and to operate the Service. We do not use your phone number for marketing or sell it to third parties
- Your email address, only if you choose to provide one
- Your password or authentication credentials, stored using secure methods
- Profile information such as your name/username and your profile photo (avatar) where provided
B. Contacts
- Phone numbers and names from your device contacts that you choose to sync or add, so you can find and connect with other Pico Talk users and use our contact cloud-sync feature
- Contacts stored in our database are encrypted at rest. As a result, we do not have access to the contents of your synced contacts and cannot read which numbers or names you have uploaded
C. Calls & Chat Data
- Call logs, call duration, and call status information
- Chat messages, group chat membership, and related metadata
- We do not record or store the audio or video content of your calls. Call media is not recorded or retained by us; we only keep call metadata such as logs, duration, and status
- Chat messages are retained on our servers to deliver the Service. Because contact information is encrypted at rest, chat content stored on our servers is not linked to identifiable contact details on our side
- Chat content is not end-to-end encrypted and is not encrypted at rest. It is transmitted using standard secure transport (e.g. HTTPS/TLS) and protected by access controls
D. AI & Translation Features
- Pico Talk offers AI-assisted features such as translation and writing tools (grammar improvement, rewrite, and professional tone)
- These features are processed on a one-shot, real-time basis. We do not store or retain the content you submit to these features or their output. Our systems only record that a request occurred (for example, that a translation request was made), not the content of the request or its result
E. Technical & Usage Data
- IP address, device identifiers, operating system, and app version
- Crash reports, diagnostics, logs, and security events
- Push notification tokens used to deliver call and message notifications
4. Purpose of Processing
We process personal data to:
- Create and manage user accounts
- Provide voice calling, chat messaging, group chat, and contact management features
- Deliver notifications, alerts, and service communications
- Improve performance, reliability, user experience, and platform security
- Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations
5. Legal Basis for Processing
Where applicable, we process personal data based on consent, contract performance, legal obligations, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, and protection of users or the platform.
6. Contacts Permissions & Cloud Sync
Contact cloud sync is one of the core features of Pico Talk. It works much like other contact-sync services: you can read your device contacts, edit them, sync them to the Pico cloud, and delete them. To provide this, the app requests the following permissions:
- Read Contacts: used to read contacts from your device so you can choose to sync them to the Pico cloud, find other Pico Talk users, and manage your contacts within the app
- Write Contacts: used to let you edit contact details, such as names and phone numbers, as part of the contact management and sync feature
You control which contacts are synced. All synced contacts are encrypted at rest in our database, so we do not have access to and cannot read the contacts you upload.
7. Encryption & Security of Communications
Pico Talk encrypts contacts stored in our database at rest, so we cannot read them. We do not record or store the audio or video content of calls. Chat messages are not end-to-end encrypted and are not encrypted at rest; however, because contact information is encrypted, chat content stored on our servers is not linked to identifiable contact details on our side. Data transmitted between the app and our servers uses standard secure transport (e.g. HTTPS/TLS).
8. Data Storage, Residency & Transfers
User data may be stored in controlled data center or cloud environments selected by PICO SOFT LIMITED. Cross-border transfers, where required, will be handled with appropriate safeguards and in accordance with applicable law.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, and support business records.
Account deletion takes effect instantly. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your phone number, your contacts synced to the Pico cloud, and your profile photo (avatar). Deleting your account removes only the contacts stored in the Pico cloud; it does not delete the contacts saved on your device, which are device-specific and not stored in the cloud.
Your chat messages and group chat history are retained on our servers. If you later register again using the same phone number, your chats and group chats are restored to that account. Because phone numbers and contact information are encrypted in our database, we do not hold identifiable details that would let us determine whose chats are whose.
10. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose your phone number or other limited data to law enforcement or legal authorities where disclosure is required by law. We may also share limited data with:
- Infrastructure, hosting, push notification, and support service providers
- Legal authorities where disclosure is required by law
- Authorized internal personnel under access control and confidentiality obligations
11. User Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent. Requests may be submitted through the app or by contacting info@picosoftltd.com.
12. Children’s Data
Pico Talk is not intended for unlawful use by children. Where a minor uses the Service, a parent or guardian must ensure that proper permission and supervision are in place.
13. Security Measures
We use reasonable safeguards such as encrypted transport, encryption of contacts at rest, access controls, authentication protections, monitoring, logging, and incident response procedures. Users should also protect their credentials and devices.
14. Personal Data Breaches
If a personal data breach occurs, we will assess the risk and take appropriate notification and remediation steps in accordance with applicable law.
15. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or other reasonable notice.
